Channeling the Racing Roos with a new helmet to celebrate my journey and proud connection to Australia’s Indigenous culture.

My helmet was painted by renowned Indigenous Artist and family friend, Gloria Gardiner (nee Chapman), to reflect my journey and connection to country and community.  Although I am not Indigenous, I want to acknowledge the importance of their culture.  Using the new colour theme of vibrant yellow, blue and green teamed with Indigenous symbolism to celebrate everything uniquely Australian.

Gloria and my mum both grew up in Goodooga, a remote indigenous community in far north-west of NSW.  Where they continue to hold strong connections to community and country.

Top of Helmet - family and journeys. The circles and symbols represent my family, my mum, dad and brother sitting round a camp fire; three males and one female.  With our journeys radiating out from the centre as lines of dots leading to other connections and other groups.

It is a great honour to represent Australia, and it is a privilege to be able to skate with such beautiful indigenous artwork on my helmet.
