The reality is, that there is no support for emerging skaters. I have chosen a sport that receives very little financial support. Australian Ice Racing is run by talented volunteers and with the little Government money they get, they can only afford to send us to competitions but absolutely no other funding.

In Short Track Speed Racing I am doing extremely well, given that I started racing 10 years after most skaters and when in Australia, I can only skate one hour a week. The world's best skaters are professional athletes, supported by their governments or sponsors, they skate on-ice at least 20 hours a week. I'm like an 'Eddie the Eagle' but I am also determined to win. The odds are stacked against me but that makes me even more determined.

These are my yearly expenses, currently paid by the 'bank of mum and dad'. Some people may say, that it is their choice and responsibility. In the last two years, my journey has cost approximately $100,000. Even if I achieve an Olympic medal and world glory, when I retire from this sport it is also likely I will have no employment skills and no earning capacity. I am studying for a Bachelor of Science, Mathematics but it is slow going. I complete 2 subjects per year. So I will be at it for a while.

I can work and I am willing to work.

These are my current expenses:

I have a very, very, very high chance to make it to the 2026 Winter Olympics and then I aim to back it up again in 2030 when I will be at my physical peak. I will have to sacrifice a lot to get there but I am also very determined to be there.

While in South Korea, I also study Korean.

Sponsorship, I will consider all offers. I can place your logo on my helmet, my suit, my boots. I can promote your company at Corporate Events, I can promote your products in your advertising, and you can use my image in your Corporate promotional materials.
